Fredrikstad

On friday we went to Fredrikstad. It's a city in Østfold county to the south of Oslo in Norway, which was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838.

The city straddles the river Glomma where it meets the Skagerrak.
Here you can see a few pictures of the city.

We went to a very interesting and tangent photo exhibition about asylum seekers in Norway. To see this exhibition you have to go into an old, closed prison. Unfortunately the batteries of my camera were empty than. But we learned a lot about the life and the feelings of refugee children and about the situation of asylum seekers in Norway.

The Oslo Opera House is the home of the Norwegian national Opera, the national opera theatre and the national Ballet in Norway. It is situated in the Bjørvika next to central Oslo at the head of the Oslofjord. There are 1,100 rooms in the building. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with Italian marble and white granite. It is the largest cultural building constructed in Norway.
